Battled through the traffic to get to Al's for 10am and we headed straight across to get on the water. Al pointed out that the weather station had recently recorded a 44knot max gust, hmmmmm....

Went with the wave board and 4.5m after changing some boom rope, dooh! At first I was over powered and battling for control but given the size of the waves decided not to go too far out towards the mast high monsters and instead practised jumping off the smaller waves on the inside.

The wind dropped off for a while and we were both under powered but it soon picked up again. Al watched a few of my jumps and put me right on my lack of technique. Instantly my jumps improved and felt really good, instead of pushing too hard off the back foot sending the board vertical I just needed to tuck the back leg a bit soner to flatten out the board and bring the fin up. Some nice nose first landing and sailed away ;-)

Watched Al making some long runs way out the back getting over the huge waves then dissappearing out of sight, nice!

When Al decided to call it a day I headed over to the estuary for a quick gybe session as the tide was rising nicely.

In the estuary I rigged big (5.0m) due to the lulls andwent with the Flow. It was a bit mad going from being underpowered to massively over powered. Tried to gybe but it was only ok, not the best conditions to practise in. Still the sky cleared and the sun came out to make a nice day of it.
